Summary
The University of West Florida’s Student Code of Conduct punishes students for inflicting harm on others. However, “harm” is vaguely defined as ““[c]onduct that creates an intimidating, intolerable, or offensive campus, educational or working environment for another person, unrelated to the victim’s protected class, if any.”
Organizations such as the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) have raised their concerns over the chilling effect vague codes like these have on free speech, but the University has not adopted any changes to this code.
