Summary

Lars Maischak is a lecturer in the history department at California State University at Fresno, a public school. From his personal Twitter, he tweeted various anti-Trump statements, including: “Trump must hang,” suggested that, in the future, there would be a monument built to honor Trump’s eventual assassin, and tweeted: “Justice = the execution of two republicans for each deported immigrant.” In response, Cal State made Maischak take a leave of absence for the remainder of the spring semester. They reevaluated his position over the summer and came to the decision that he would not be doing any classroom teaching in Fall 2017, but would instead “work on designing online courses until the end of his contract,” at which point his status would be reviewed. Maischak has stated that he wishes to get back into the classroom to teach.
