Summary
Alex Knepper was a student at American University. In March 2010, Knepper penned an opinion piece in the university’s student newspaper entitled “Dealing With AU’s Anti-Sex Brigade.” In it, he wrote that “any woman who heads to an EI [fraternity] party as an anonymous onlooker, drinks five cups of the jungle juice, and walks back to a boy’s room with him is indicating that she wants sex, OK?” The column sparked a massive backlash and garnered nearly 300 online comments on the newspaper’s website. The newspaper then apologized.
