Summary

Rabab Abdulhadi is an associate professor at San Francisco State University (SFSU). Allegedly due to her strong advocacy of Palestinian rights, Abdulhadi was subjected to various forms of retaliation by administrators from around 2013 through 2019. This allegedly included arbitrary cancellation of classes for which Abdulhadi had planned and selected qualified community scholars to teach; refusal to publicize academic fellowships awarded to her; relocation of her office without her permission, and so on.

Abdulhadi filed a lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California against various university administrators, alleging violations of § 1983 in retaliation for Abdulhadi’s exercise of her First Amendment rights. This case is ongoing.
